So I woke up in the morning today, downloaded everything in painful amounts of time, gone for first PvE quests, figured they feel too much like the ones from original Guild Wars, and decided to join the hyped factions battles. Here are several thought after a few matches:

First of all, the point 500 limit is way, way, way too high. Typical match looks like that: around the 100th point one team starts getting distinct advantage, people on the other team start mass leaving, and for the final 300 points it's a 4 vs 12. Spend three matches like that, one-sided fight at the beginning and then a 10 minute wait filled with chatting about the philosophy of Moa Birds*. There was only one match, which we lost 485-500, that was interesting up to the very end.

Making the points speed up or lowering the limit would probably stop some leavers, for not everyone is a connoisseur of fine serious discussions. Please, ANet, if it would be possible to change by the end of the weekend

Secondly, I understand that the 4,4 and 4 instead of full 12 parties are there to make finding groups easily. This backfires, because it often feels like a 12vs12 random arena. Perhaps make an option to create 12-people teams for those more patient players? Dunno, it's hard to strike a balance here

Thirdly, please make a level requirement. There's always, ALWAYS a hapless lvl 4 running around, God knows why

These are first impressions after just a few matches. Off to play some more now, add you own thoughts.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I *ALWAYS* have to chase down a Lvl 7 Necro or Lvl 5 Mesmer. Damn annoying. And yes, people are *ALWAYS* leaving after they're down by like 100 points.

question...i've been out of the loop for a few weeks...how were there lower level chars in the game, if you become level 20 as soon as you make a character for factions?

The PvP portion is open to everyone.

The only thing I could say is that at this early of a stage you would not get a full account of what it will really be like after release.

Right now there are many people that are just checking it out. And since everything is reset after this preview, then it doesn't make sense to stick around if you are just checking things out or logged on to have a little fun for some people.

Give it time. Work a couple of bugs out, or maybe some penalties, or a lower point race option, or whatever. It will become closer to what you really want in a short a mount of time.

I have not tried the battles and intend to focus mainly on the unlocking of weapons and runes for my account. although, I intend to do every quest I can in hopes of earning and unlocking items and skills through faction and other things. Btw- i forgot. when does this event end?

Being a PvE player I oppose a system where important missions only can be done by team vs team play... BUT as is looks now most matches wont take longer than like 5 minutes since the loosing team wont stay much longer, making it a waste of time. I'm sure Arenane did not intend this but for me... I like it lol! No longer need to try 4 or 5 40 minute missions to continue, just play a few 5 minute missions until you find the right team, and bingo!
